A genuinely peaceful retreat….. Magic!

What an absolutely unique and wonderful place to stay. Audrey and Tim have cleverly catered for all desires – luxury safari tents that are beautifully, immaculately furnished with welcoming and thoughtful touches; plus all the necessities (fantastic log burner, fully equipped kitchen, lovely bathroom with heating, hot tub with amazing view, comfy beds with electric blanket for those more chilly nights, power etc) in a stunning rural setting at the heart of their dairy farm. A genuinely peaceful retreat with the option to get your wellies on and properly enjoy and learn about the farm. We fed calves, collected eggs every day, rode on tractors, built straw bale dens, played on rope swings and so much more. We didn’t leave the farm in 4 days and still had plenty to do. Whether you are after a romantic retreat, reunion with friends or family holiday, Village Farm caters for all. This is a very special place with extremely warm and genuine hospitality. Magic!

Looking forward to another visit!

A last minute long weekend away in beautiful countryside and on a great farm. The safari tent was amazing and had everything we needed. The log burner kept us cosy on the cooler evenings and the hot tub was lovely. The hosts Tim and Audrey were fantastic and the farm tour was very informative and interactive, tractor rides, feeding calves and learning about milking. Fresh milk and eggs were delicious as well as the chocolate brownies baked for us and there for when we arrived.

We all thoroughly enjoyed it! Will look forward to another visit in the not too distant future.

“The best glamping site so far.”

We enjoyed our stay very much. Having visited a number of Glamping sites we all think this was the best so far. From the warm welcome to having a gas hob and fridge in the tent – such luxury! Then having electrics for charging the mobile (which we needed for the Google navigation!!)
The hot tub was great. The hay (play) barn brought back memories of my time spent playing on a friends farm as a child – the kids loved it!
We visited a number of the local pubs for meals which were all good.
Highly recommended.
Thankyou all for such a warm welcome.

Where do I start !

Where do I start !
We are a family with 3 boys who love to go on games consoles and honestly do not spend enough time together so this was our way of getting back on track enjoying time together.
On arrival we were met by Audrey who greeted us all which was lovely, the Safari tent totally blew us away and the little touches just made us smile from the minute we arrived.
The hot tub was lovely and warm ready for guests to enjoy(which we did)
Everything for a nice cuppa on arrival and marshmallows to toast ! And the teddy bears for the boys to sleep with too, and from that moment on the Safari tent area was ours to enjoy and Audrey was on hand for any problems.
We accepted the kind offer of a farm tour which is so interesting.  Our  7 year old wasn’t to keen on it at first , but I have to say we have all said that was the best bit of our whole break ( and the flapjack 😊)
The boys and myself met the calves up close and myself and partner both got to drive the tractor which was so much fun and impressed the boys .
From the moment the boys saw the barn with the haybales and ropeswing we couldn’t pry them away and honestly we had so much fun with them so we never left the farm to go on any day trips as we were far too busy spending quality time together.
I had so many questions I wanted to ask Tim and we all learned something new about the working farm to our local leicestershire countryside.
The effort and time that goes into guests is by far the best we have experienced and we have already booked our return.
We can’t wait to see Tim ,Audrey and their family again and not forgetting Jaffa !

An outstanding weekend!

An outstanding weekend. The safari tents are stunning and provide everything you require for a luxury break. The farm itself is beautiful and great fun to explore. So private and peaceful.

The best equipped glamping…..great value for money….

We have just returned for a fabulous 3 nights at the Village farm. It was by far the best equipped glamping we have ever stayed in. Every little detail was thought of – Proper beds, towels for the hot tub, well equipped kitchen, firewood, log burner, hot tub and BBQ fire pit. There were even Marshmallows ready for toasting. The safari  tent is very comfortable and also has excellent toilet and shower facilities (the best I’ve ever encountered glamping) The location is great, quiet and views of open fields, cows and sheep, a short walk to the nearest pub, yet only a 10 minute drive to Thurmaston retail park. The hosts Audrey and Tim were friendly and very helpful, Tim gave my husband and nephews a tour of the farm, and they also played on a rope swing in the barn. They had a great time learning about the dairy (more…)

What a lovely retreat!

What a lovely retreat in the beautiful setting of the Leicestershire countryside. There is everything provided to make your stay very enjoyable. We went to the Armourgeddon  military museum which was interesting and went to market Harborough. The local restaurant Black Boy pub served great food . The safari tents were toasty warm with the log burner  and extra special treat of an electric blanket. We were that warm at one point we had to open the front of the tent to let some cool air in from the rolling countryside. Thanks again Audrey and family!  We will definitely be back to sit in the private jacuzzi with stunning views.

The accommodation was a very high standard…

We had a great time on the farm. The accommodation was to a very high standard and very comfortable. We couldn’t have asked for any more from Tim and Audrey – they were the perfect hosts. We hope to go back and see them again with better weather, the only thing that let us down, but obviously beyond anyone’s control.

All the little details were so lovely.

Me, my husband and our 3 children spent 2 nights at Village farm in March 2018. We were a little worried as the weather had been terrible but there was no need to have been.

When we arrived the log burner had already been lit so the tent was lovely and warm, there were beautiful fresh flowers on the table and very tasty home made rock cakes for us. Audrey gave us a very warm welcome and brought me a card and a bottle of prosecco for my birthday which was really thoughtful. There were teddy bears, hot water bottles and story books in the children’s room and I was pleased to see an electric blanket in our bed. All the little details were so lovely.

The children enjoyed getting the fresh eggs from the hen house in the morning then going back and having them for breakfast and they loved Tim’s farm tour, they especially enjoyed going for a ride on the truck and my husband loved driving a tractor. It was very interesting looking round and learning about the farm and nothing was too much trouble for Tim. We also had a little walk to a lovely pub just 5 minutes down the road which was very nice.

My personal highlight was enjoying my prosecco in the hot tub when the kids were tucked up in bed and then having cheese and biscuits snuggled in front of the fire, it was so relaxing and just what we needed.

Thank you both for a lovely stay and we hope to stay again in the future.

We truly can’t recommend it enough….

What a fantastic holiday we have just had at Village Farm Getaway – we truly couldn’t recomend it enough. My husband and I, and our 2 children aged 3 and 6, spent a full week at Barleylease during the Easter holidays.

As soon as we arrived, we felt completely at home on the farm being welcomed by Tim and Audrey (who are such a genuinely lovely and kind couple) and then later Paul and everyone else who works on the farm – everyone was so welcoming.

The canvas cottage was just perfect and none of wanted to leave at the end of our holiday. Audrey has really thought of absolutely everything in the cottage, we were truly spoilt; from a heated blanket in the bed, books and games for the children (Dobble is a family favourite!), a fully equipped kitchen, marshmallows waiting to be toasted on the fire pit, a bucket to collect fresh eggs each day (which the children loved!) fresh flowers and delicious home made rock cakes for us – not to mention a toasty arrival into the cottage as Audrey had kindly pre lit the fantastic log burner for us. The hot tub was brilliant, too, and very much enjoyed by us all. The views are incredible and, even on a cooler day, we were so warm in the hot tub and then toasty in the canvas cottage with the log burner on.

Tim and Paul are so accommodating, knowledgable and kind, too. Tim showed us around the farm and explained how everything works – nothing was too much trouble. We were even lucky enough to see a calf being born, too, thanks Paul!

We had a couple of days out from the cottage, too, as there are some great places to visit close by with children (including the National Space Center, which is brilliant!).

It was a perfect break, so relaxing and peaceful. The children had so much freedom and fun around the cottage and went on so many little adventures.

We are going back next year, we pretty much decided that on day 1!
Thank you Tim, Audrey, Paul and everyone else on the farm – you have created a very special place : )

Village Farm Getaway was exactly that!

Village Farm Getaway was exactly that. Two spacious canvas cabins in the middle of a field overlooking the Leicestershire hills. Despite completely miserable weather throughout the weekend (very cold, heavy rain, and strong winds throughout) we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The children loved seeing the cows, calves and bull, and playing on the rope swing in the hay barn. The wood burning stove going at full pelt, made the cabin warm and cosy as we played cards and listened to the rain hammer down outside. The hot tub was probably what made it though. Sitting in steaming hot water, looking out over the hills could not bet bettered – we all loved it! Nothing was too much trouble for Tim, Audrey and their son Mike, who had lit the fire for our arrival and left us delicious home-made brownies and a welcome birthday card with Prosecco! Tim and his brother also gave us a farm tour and showed my daughter how to feed the calves – she was thrilled.

Perfect three nights!

My wife and I had a perfect three nights in Barleyleas, we did very little apart from cooking our food in the woodburner, warming our toes round the fire, sipping bubbly in the hot tub whilst watching the stars. Had a couple of small walks to a couple of small pubs and an interesting tour of the farm. Very peaceful. Think you’ve smashed it Audrey. Thanks to you both.

What an absolutely fantastic stay

What an absolutely fantastic stay we had at the Village Farm Getaway! The canvas cottage was so beautifully made and so cosy that we didn’t want to leave it to go outside, even on a beautiful day. Everything was so well designed and thought through; no detail was missed, even down to finding a pot of milk in the fridge for tea and delicious flapjacks waiting for us upon our arrival. Tim and Audrey were wonderful hosts who made us feel so welcome and even gave us a tour of their family-run farm which was so interesting. We enjoyed our stay so much that we cannot wait to come back and after showing our friends and family the photos that we took, they want to visit for themselves. We couldn’t recommend this amazing Glamping experience enough!

We had a lovely stay

We had a lovely stay in Barleyleas. Everything had been thought of, from the flapjack, marshmallows and the electric blanket! I haven’t stopped recommending it since we got home and will be returning for another stay. Thank you Audrey, Tim and Paul!

Children did not want to leave!

We really enjoyed our stay last month and were very happy with the high specs of the interior of the glamping lodge. It was all very luxurious. Your attention to detail was noticed and much appreciated. The children had a wonderful time and did not want to leave. We hope to visit again in the not too distant future. Thank you for the warm friendly welcome,

We have just spent a

We have just spent a lovely and relaxing weekend glamping at the Village Farm. Farmer Tim and Audrey are great hosts, making us feel welcome and including some nice touches- from our names on the welcome board in the tent, a fridge of essentials and lovely homemade flapjack, to a fun ride on the tractor trailer. We hired both tents for a family get together. They are beautifully situated in a private field so that this is possible and works well, whilst creating a feeling of space and yet security for the children. The tents are of a great standard- comfortable beds, a nice kitchen area and a good shower shed out the back. The farm is a great place for children- we got to look after chickens watch the milking and feed the new calves. The barn with a rope swing and hay bales to make dens was also very popular with the little ones! A lovely weekend of quality family time in a lovely environment. We would certainly recommend the experience the the farm offers.

We had a great stay

We had a great stay at Village Farm Getaway. The tents are amazing, feeling homely and warm, yet still giving the feel of camping. We loved sitting around the log fire burner at night and cooking pain au chocolate for breakfast in the morning. We went out to Rutland water, only 30 minutes drive away, and went paddle boarding and kayaking. Brilliant hosts with a tour around the farm. All round fantastic weekend and well worth a visit!

We have just had a

We have just had a wonderful three night break in these fabulous tents for a family trip. My sister and her family were in one tent, and myself and my family were in the other, it was perfect. The two tents are situated in a secluded field with gorgeous views of the countryside, the field is fenced off so the children could just play to their hearts content. Audrey has thought of everything in the tents: comfy beds, lovely bathroom, warm and spacious, with even homemade flapjacks on arrival. Audrey and Tim offer a warm welcome, Tim gave us a really interesting and an insightful tour of the farm, including tractor ride. The children got to collect eggs and feed the calves and we all got to see the milking. The children’s favourite part though was the fun barn, equipped with bales to climb on and make dens in and a rope swing … they were in heaven. Our best bit was getting the kids to bed and relaxing in the hot tub. We visited initially as it was half way between where our two families live, but what we discovered was a great and unique experience. I can’t recommend Village Farm Getaway enough.

Had a fantastic time at

Had a fantastic time at village farm – amazing hospitality from Audrey and Tim who really went out of their way to ensure we had a good stay. Thankyou so much!

We’ve just returned

We’ve just returned from a fabulous 3 days at the Village Farm Getaway with my husband and two kids (7 and 11). This was ‘getaway in it’s truest sense. The tents are situated in beautiful countryside where the kids spent hours exploring, chasing rabbits and playing hiding and seek. The tents are the perfect blend of luxury and cosy homeliness; with all the benefits of fresh air and toasted marshmallows but all the comfort of a gorgeous bathroom from home and a woodburning stove at night. The kitchen is well equipped so that as well as cooking on the open fire we were able to make use of a hob and oven – this definitely feels like camping without all the hard work.

However the highlight of the getaway is its location on this friendly family farm. The welcome is warm and everyone so friendly that you quickly feel at home whether it is gathering morning free range eggs or visiting and feeding the new calves.

We live locally within Leicestershire but this break felt every bit a getaway and we can’t wait to go back.

Friendly, helpful hosts made

Friendly, helpful hosts made a perfect start to a wonderful stay at Village Farm Getaway!
Amazingly comfortable beds, well equipped kitchen, fantastic shower, and log burner made our stay at Village Farm Getaway an experience we would like to repeat.Everything was tastefully presented and spotlessly clean with chairs on the veranda so we could appreciate the beautiful views.
The peace and quiet makes it a lovely location well away from the usual hustle and bustle of life. The cows, Jaffa the farm dog, tractors and chickens immediately put you in the mood for a good time away on a working farm.
Many thanks for a very special stay…and we look forward to returning very soon.

Glamping at its best!

Glamping at its best! Had a wonderful weekend here, the ‘tents’ have such a beautiful view over the countryside and couldn’t have wished for nicer accommodation. Tim and Audrey were fantastic hosts who really made us feel very welcome even showing us around the farm and introducing us to their cows.

Just returned from

Just returned from a fabulous few days away with the girls…. 5* all round for brilliant hosts Tim and Audrey! Thank you for welcoming us with open arms.
The accommodation was excellent, the tents are private and very well laid out. Designed to a very high standard and facilitate you with the best glamping experience you could ask for!
The beautiful location and relaxing hot tub just makes it the perfect getaway – we cannot wait for our next visit.
